The Feminist Bookstore, a subsidiary of Jaded Ibis Press, is a vibrant new space in San Diego dedicated to feminist voices, bold art, and socially engaged literature. As a nonprofit, we champion historically marginalized perspectives through books, gifts, and community events. Join us in celebrating empowerment, creativity, and activism in a welcoming space designed to inspire and connect.
Reading Series & Open Mic Nights
Join us for a queer-friendly, feminist reading series at The Feminist Bookstore in Mission Hills! This monthly event celebrates diverse voices and features a funny and entertaining drag queen emcee (to be announced), alongside one or two featured readers. After the main readings, the microphone is open for attendees to share up to 5 minutes of prose, poetry, or music in an inclusive, welcoming space. Tickets are $12 (or $10 in advance), and we invite all to participate and amplify their voices. Hosted by Jaded Ibis Press, a feminist press dedicated to socially engaged literature by marginalized voices, this series promises an inspiring night of creativity and community. Each event will be 90 minutes in length. Space is limited so RSVP on Meetup and pay early to secure your seat.
Queering Reality
Queering Reality is hosted by Elizabeth Earley, a passionate advocate for social justice with a deep commitment to exploring the intersections of identity and culture. Alongside a diverse lineup of guests, we navigate the complexities of living authentically in a world that often demands conformity.
Twice each month, we dive into a wide array of topics, from the deeply personal to the broadly cultural. Whether we’re interviewing influential authors, activists, artists, and thinkers, or engaging in candid discussions about philosophy, science, politics, media, mental health, and everyday life, our goal is to foster conversations that are thought-provoking, informative, and, above all, transformative. www.queeringreality.com
Community Giving Program
The Feminist Bookstore and Jaded Ibis Press Community Giving Program is for patrons who have means to share with those who have less by purchasing a book in the form of a voucher and leaving it pinned to the board for a community member to use who can’t afford one. Redemption of vouchers will be via the honor system. If you can’t comfortably afford a book, but wish you could, please take a voucher and choose your book.
